Where to farm
Lothric Castle bonfire. Search the nearby knight route for red-eyed Lothric Knights carrying a sword and shield or a spear and greatshield; those are the identified Refined Gem sources.
Refined Gems are a chance-based drop from specific red-eyed Lothric Knights at Lothric Castle: target the sword-and-shield knights and the spear-and-greatshield knights. Ordinary nearby Lothric Knights are not the stated source, so focus each run on those two weapon types. This is a repeatable enemy-drop route, and each Gem is consumed when Andre uses it to infuse a weapon. Refined infusion balances Strength and Dexterity scaling while lowering base damage; decide that suits your weapon and build before farming. The same kills may yield souls, Embers, and reinforcement materials, but those are separate drops and do not make a Refined Gem certain.

How to farm
Before you go
Reach Lothric Castle and activate its bonfire.
Bring a weapon and healing supplies suited to repeated knight fights.
For infusion, give Andre the Farron Coal and check that Refined is available for your weapon.
Confirm the weapon benefits from balanced Strength and Dexterity scaling.
At Firelink Shrine, give Farron Coal to Andre if Refined infusion is still locked.
Rest at the Lothric Castle bonfire and head onto the nearby knight route.
Identify the red-eyed sword-and-shield and spear-and-greatshield knights; do not count other knight types as the target.
Draw one target away from nearby enemies where practical, then defeat it.
Collect its drop and check your inventory for a Refined Gem.
Continue to the other eligible red-eyed knight if it is safely reachable; collect and check its drop too.
Return to the bonfire and rest to respawn enemies, then repeat while you still need a Gem.
Take the Gem to Andre, review the weapon’s Refined infusion result, and apply it if the displayed scaling suits your build.
Farming tips
Item discovery gear can improve drop attempts, but it does not guarantee a Gem.
Separate a target from nearby enemies when possible; the shielded spear knight can punish careless approaches, so take a safe opening rather than rushing.
Repeat, collect and use
Resting at the bonfire respawns the target knights for another chance-based drop attempt. Repeat until you have the Gem or Gems needed; each infusion consumes one. This is an enemy farm, unlike fixed treasure pickups.
Common mistakes
Farming ordinary Lothric Knights: prioritize only the red-eyed sword-and-shield or spear-and-greatshield types identified as Refined Gem sources.
Expecting every run to produce a Gem: check each eligible enemy’s drops and repeat as needed; discovery gear is not a guarantee.
Using the Gem before confirming the infusion: inspect Andre’s weapon preview and remember Refined balances Strength and Dexterity while reducing base damage.
When to stop or switch
Stop once you have enough Refined Gems for the planned weapon infusions. If the weapon’s scaling or your build does not suit Refined, keep the Gem and farm a different infusion material only after confirming the intended alternative.
