WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Town Blacksmith salvage interface; gear and occasional material drops come from Adventure Mode activities, especially Nephalem Rifts.
Turn unwanted noncrafted legendary and set items into Forgotten Souls at the Blacksmith. Nephalem Rifts provide repeated gear drops and their Guardians can also drop a small number of Souls, so combine ordinary farming with deliberate salvage. Ancient items yield more Souls than ordinary legendaries, but keep any item that could serve your build before dismantling it.
Before you go A level 70 character with Adventure Mode access. Unwanted noncrafted legendary or set items to salvage, or Nephalem Rift access for repeated loot. A planned use such as Law of Kulle reforging or enchanting. Run Nephalem Rifts at a difficulty your build clears efficiently and collect legendary or set drops. Defeat each Rift Guardian and check its loot for Forgotten Souls. Return to town and review every legendary and set item before salvaging. Keep useful powers, upgrades, and spare copies needed for your build plans. Salvage only the unwanted eligible items at the Blacksmith. Check your Forgotten Soul total against the Cube or enchanting cost you intend to pay. Resume the rift-and-salvage loop when the stock is too low for that plan. Farming tips Ancient legendary and set items yield more Forgotten Souls when salvaged, but compare their build value before dismantling. Greater Rift Guardians are not a Death’s Breath source; use regular rifts when you want both gear salvage and that material. Repeat, collect and use Repeat without a fixed limit as gear drops. Each salvage consumes an item; Rift Guardian drops are variable rather than guaranteed in every run.
Common mistakes Salvaging a useful item before saving its power or copy: inspect drops first and keep build-relevant pieces. Expecting crafted legendaries to return Souls: crafted items do not provide Forgotten Souls when salvaged. Running only Greater Rifts for Souls: use ordinary rifts for general drops and the recorded Guardian source. When to stop or switch Stop salvaging when you have enough Souls for the next planned recipe or enchant; keep farming rifts if reforging remains your goal.
