WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

A shallow-water crop plot on the island; this route applies to Rice Seeds, not every crop.

Rice has a useful field-specific exception: Rice Seeds can be planted under shallow water, where the crop does not need watering. Build a small water plot near base and use it for Rice rather than repeatedly tending a dry bed. Rice is a Breezy Autumn update crop, so check that the seed is available from Rayne’s Greenhouse in your current save. The crop has a cooking chain as well: one Rice becomes Cooked Rice in a Billy Can Kit or Cooking Kettle, which can be retained for recipes such as Egg Fried Rice and Roe Nigiri. Keep raw Rice and Cooked Rice separate so your field yield remains available for planting and your food stock does not disappear into a recipe by mistake.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Rice Seeds from Rayne’s Greenhouse and access to farming.
  • A plot that can be planted under shallow water.
  • Billy Can Kit or Cooking Kettle if you want to process Rice into Cooked Rice.
  1. Check Rayne’s Greenhouse for Rice Seeds and verify the crop appears in your current version.
  2. Choose a shallow-water plot where the seed can be planted without flooding the surrounding travel path.
  3. Plant Rice Seeds in the shallow water; the crop page specifies that planted this way does not need watering.
  4. Keep the bed clear and return when the crop is ready rather than spending time with a watering can.
  5. Harvest Rice and reserve any portion needed for replanting or storage.
  6. For food preparation, place one Rice into a Billy Can Kit or Cooking Kettle to make Cooked Rice.
  7. Use the cooked result in a recipe such as Egg Fried Rice or Roe Nigiri when those recipes are unlocked.
  8. Replant the shallow-water plot when raw Rice stock is needed again.

Farming tips

  • The no-watering property is specific to Rice planted under shallow water; ordinary dry plots and other crops still need their normal care.
  • The wiki labels Rice as a Breezy Autumn update addition, so avoid treating it as an early-game seed in every save.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the shallow-water planting and harvest as needed; no watering input is required when the Rice is planted in shallow water.

Common mistakes

  • Planting Rice on dry tilled soil and expecting the shallow-water exception to apply.
  • Applying the Rice rule to other crops.
  • Cooking the entire Rice stock before reserving seed and raw ingredient needs.

When to stop or switch

Pause after you have enough raw Rice for the next planting and enough cooked portions for your recipe plan.
