Year-Round Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is a named all-season crop that supplies a repeatable cane harvest when seasonal seeds are out of season.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

A prepared outdoor crop plot on the player’s Dinkum island; Sugar Cane is listed as year-round.

Use Sugar Cane as a dependable crop target when you want a field that can remain productive across Dinkum’s seasonal changes. The crop list classifies Sugar Cane as year-round, and Rayne’s Greenhouse lists its seeds as growing through all seasons. This does not remove the normal farming work: prepare soil, plant seeds, water the field, and harvest when ready. Make a modest first patch so you can learn the routine and decide whether the output belongs in storage, cooking, or a sale shipment. The route is specifically about this crop’s season availability; it does not mean the field is automatic or that every other crop shares the same planting window. Keep seed and harvested cane separate until you know how much you want for the next cycle.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Farming Licence and access to Sugar Cane Seeds from Rayne’s Greenhouse.
  • Tilled plots and a watering can or covered irrigation setup.
  • Storage space for seeds and harvested cane.
  1. Visit Rayne’s Greenhouse and check that Sugar Cane Seeds are available for purchase.
  2. Prepare a compact tilled patch near your water supply and storage.
  3. Plant Sugar Cane Seeds in the prepared soil and water the newly planted plots.
  4. Return to the field as plants grow and water according to the crop’s condition.
  5. Use a sprinkler on the plots it covers if you have irrigation already; check uncovered plots separately.
  6. Harvest the mature Sugar Cane with the appropriate tool and keep some seed stock for another planting cycle.
  7. Move the harvest to storage before deciding whether to cook, craft, or ship surplus.
  8. Repeat the same patch in another season when you need more cane; the year-round listing means the crop is not restricted to a single planting season.

Farming tips

  • Start with a small planting so a long-term cane reserve does not crowd crops with narrower seasonal windows.
  • The year-round classification concerns season, not unattended growth; keep watering as needed.

Repeat, collect and use

Replant when more Sugar Cane is useful. The crop can be scheduled across seasons, but each round still relies on seed, field care, and harvest.

Common mistakes

  • Treating year-round availability as permission to ignore watering.
  • Using all seed stock on the first patch and then lacking material for the next planting.
  • Planting a large field before deciding how the cane will be used.

When to stop or switch

Pause when storage has enough cane for the intended use or when a seasonal crop needs the field space.
