A well-placed drill turns a suitable deposit into a repeatable ore source. Verifying placement, power, and output in a small test line makes later expansion easier to troubleshoot.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A matching accessible surface or underground deposit with room for the miner, power connection, and output conveyor.
Prepare the deposit face, validate the miner placement, and connect a short belt to a buffer before adding smelting or more machines. Match the miner to the deposit and the power requirements shown for that equipment in your current build.

A cleared, matching deposit face
Power compatible with the miner
Conveyor and storage buffer
Choose a deposit that supplies a resource your factory currently needs.
Clear the exact face where the miner must attach and leave room for its output.
Place the miner and adjust it until the placement preview confirms a valid match.
Connect the miner to the power network appropriate for that equipment.
Build a short conveyor from the outlet into a dedicated chest or buffer.
Run the setup and observe whether material reaches the buffer without interruption.
Extend the belt to processing only after the short test confirms a stable output.
Farming tips
Test one miner at a time so a placement or power problem has fewer possible causes.
Keep the buffer visible and accessible; it shows whether mining or downstream processing is limiting the line.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the setup at another matching deposit when demand requires additional extraction. Each miner needs its own valid placement, power, and usable output route.
Common mistakes
Using a miner that does not match the deposit or face prevents a working setup; confirm the placement preview before building around it.
Connecting a long conveyor before checking the outlet direction can waste materials; test with a short route first.
Adding smelting before confirming ore delivery hides extraction faults; use the buffer as the first destination.
When to stop or switch
Stop adding miners when the buffer refills at the pace your factory needs. If it does not, fix placement, power, or transport before scaling.
