WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm A Fertilize work zone assigned over selected crop plots in the settlement.
Fertilizing is a separate settlement work task that sends a Farmer to apply fertilizer to crops inside an assigned zone. This can support a field that supplies regular cooking ingredients, provided fertilizer is available in storage and the work area covers only the plots you intend to treat. The Farmer is the only settler type that fertilizes crops. Configure the zone deliberately, then check whether fertilizer is being consumed and crops are receiving the intended care.
Before you go A Farmer settler able to perform fertilizing work. Fertilizer in storage the Farmer can access. Crops and an assigned Fertilize zone covering the intended plots. Decide which crop plots should receive fertilizer and leave other fields outside the target area. Open the Settlement interface and use the work assignment controls to create a Fertilize zone. Place the zone over the intended crop area and review its boundaries. Confirm the Farmer has fertilizing work enabled and can reach the fertilizer storage. Keep fertilizer accessible and allow the Farmer to work in the zone. Check the field and storage to confirm the worker is applying fertilizer to the selected crops. Restock fertilizer as needed and collect the resulting harvest for cooking or storage. Farming tips Make the zone fit the field rather than covering every plot, especially if fertilizer is limited. Keep fertilizer in a reachable container and separate from crop output for easier stock checks. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable while fertilizer remains available and the zone and Farmer assignment stay active; fertilizer is consumed as crops are treated.
Common mistakes Creating a zone without assigning the Farmer: enable the relevant work priority. Including plots you do not want treated: edit the zone boundaries to cover only intended crops. Assuming fertilizer is unlimited: inspect storage and restock when the worker runs out. When to stop or switch Stop fertilizing a field when its crop supply is sufficient or fertilizer stock is low; resume when the harvest need justifies the input.
