WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A Forestry work zone covering a tree area managed through the Settlement interface.
The Settlement interface includes Forestry work and lets you define a Forestry zone. Within a zone, the settings can allow tree cutting and specify whether the replanting uses the same tree type or a selected sapling type. This makes a managed tree area useful when you need Logs for construction or crafting. The interface facts establish what the zone can be set to do; they do not specify a guaranteed production rate or exact input-storage setup. Configure the area and replanting choice in game, then check the settlement output and preserve saplings of the tree type you want to maintain.
An area with trees that can be designated for Forestry work.
A preferred replanting choice: same tree type or a selected sapling type.
Choose a tree area where cutting fits your settlement plans.
Open the Settlement interface and go to the work zone assignment controls.
Create or select a Forestry zone over the intended tree area.
Set whether the zone should replant the same tree type or a particular sapling type.
Review the zone boundary before enabling cutting so it covers only trees you intend to manage.
Observe forestry activity and check settlement supplies for collected Logs and saplings.
Use Logs for construction or crafting, and retain saplings for the tree type you want the zone to replant.
Farming tips
Keep the Forestry zone boundary clear of trees you want to preserve.
Select a specific sapling type when you want the zone to replant a chosen tree variety.
Repeat, collect and use
Forestry work can be repeated while the zone and its trees remain available. Replanting behavior depends on the zone setting; the source facts do not establish a guaranteed rate or uninterrupted wood cycle.
Common mistakes
Including trees you want to keep in the zone: revise the boundary before allowing cutting.
Assuming the zone always selects the same tree type: check whether it is set to replant the same type or a chosen sapling.
Expecting a fixed supply or schedule: observe the zone's actual output and adjust it to your needs.
When to stop or switch
Pause or reduce the managed area when your stored Logs cover current building and crafting needs; resume or expand the zone when those supplies run low.
