WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Small rocks and trees on explored surfaces; rocks also appear in caves.

Stone and wood are gathered from rocks and trees in explored areas. Rocks yield Stone when mined, while trees yield Logs and can also provide saplings. These materials support construction and crafting, so collect them during ordinary exploration and bring them back before starting a building project. Tree types produce different logs and saplings; retaining a sapling lets you plant that type again where settlement planting is available.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A Pickaxe for rocks.
  • An Axe for trees.
  • Inventory space for blocks, Logs and saplings.
  1. Walk the surface near your settlement and identify trees and small rocks you can safely reach.
  2. Chop trees with the Axe and collect the dropped Logs and Saplings.
  3. Mine small rocks with the Pickaxe to gather Stone.
  4. If you need more Stone, collect it from accessible cave rocks while already exploring underground.
  5. Keep species-specific saplings when you want to preserve that tree type for replanting.
  6. Return to the settlement and store materials in accessible containers.
  7. Use the gathered Stone and Logs for the structure or crafting station you planned.

Farming tips

  • Collect mixed materials in one trip when your route already passes trees and rocks.
  • Save at least one sapling of a useful tree type instead of converting every drop into immediate building stock.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat gathering whenever construction or crafting consumes your supply. Surface resources and cave rocks provide ongoing collection opportunities.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong tool: use an Axe for trees and Pickaxe for rocks.
  • Discarding saplings without considering replanting: store one of each desired tree type.
  • Taking only Logs on a cave trip: bring Stone home too when space permits.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your planned build has enough stored materials; resume collection when a specific recipe or structure consumes the reserve.
