Gas Mask acquisition

Use the Equipment Workshop for the Gas Mask recipe. Produce Gas Filters separately in a Manufacturer and carry them in your inventory.

Craft a Gas Mask manually in the Equipment Workshop from 50 Fabric, 10 Copper Sheets, and 10 Steel Pipes. The mask lets you breathe normally in toxic gas-filled areas, but it consumes Gas Filters from your inventory while in use. Make the filters separately and carry them before entering a hazardous area. The mask recipe does not produce filters. If you need to manufacture Fabric first, the default recipe uses Mycelia and Biomass in an Assembler or Equipment Workshop. Plan your filter supply for the trip and monitor it while the mask is equipped.

How to craft

Before you craft

Gas Mask recipe available in the Equipment Workshop.
50 Fabric, 10 Copper Sheets, and 10 Steel Pipes per mask.
Gas Filters in inventory for mask use.

Gather or produce 50 Fabric, 10 Copper Sheets, and 10 Steel Pipes.
Open the Equipment Workshop and select the Gas Mask recipe.
Complete the manual craft and collect the mask.
Make Gas Filters separately in a Manufacturer and move them into your inventory.
Equip the mask before entering toxic gas and watch your remaining filter supply.

Crafting tips

The Gas Mask recipe does not include Gas Filters; stock them as a separate item.
If making Fabric from scratch, the default recipe uses Mycelia and Biomass.

Repeat, collect and use

Replenish Gas Filters before each trip where you expect to use the mask.

Entering toxic gas with a mask but no Gas Filters in inventory.

When to stop or switch

Leave the toxic area or replenish your filters when the supply runs out; stop preparation when you have a mask and enough filters for the planned outing.
