WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm Forest edges and clearings for land animals; fish-visible rivers, streams, and lakes for fish.
Use separate methods for land animals and fish. Hunt land animals in forest-edge areas and collect meat from the carcass. Fish can be caught with a spear in shallow water or with a trap in water where fish are visible. Cook what you need soon and dry extra portions for later travel.
Before you go Bow or spear for hunting land animals. Fish Trap and sticks, or a spear for catching fish. Fire for cooking and a drying rack for preserved surplus. Travel along forest edges and watch for deer or small land animals before choosing a shot or approach. Hunt the animal with your bow or spear, then collect meat from the carcass. For fish, first look for visible fish in a stream, river, or lake. Build a Fish Trap in that water or use a spear to catch fish in shallow water. Bring the catch back to camp and cook immediate meals over a fire. Place surplus meat or fish on a drying rack for later use. Pack the preserved food before leaving on a cave or bunker trip. Farming tips Do not use the carcass-harvesting method for fish; trap or spear fish directly. Dry surplus when safe at camp so fresh food is available for current needs. Repeat, collect and use Repeat the hunt or fishing loop as needed; animal encounters and trap catches are not guaranteed at a particular spot.
Common mistakes Building a trap where no fish are visible; scout the water first. Leaving raw surplus unused; cook or dry it at camp. Expecting fish to yield as a land-animal carcass; use the fishing method instead. When to stop or switch Stop hunting when you have enough food for the next outing and some preserved surplus; return to fishing or foraging when supplies run low.
