Berries and Mushrooms

Foraged plants can supplement carried food during travel and make use of clearings you pass on the way to objectives.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Forest clearings, undergrowth, and areas around camps where wild plants are visible.

Gather visible berries and mushrooms as you move through forest undergrowth and clearings. Identify plants before eating them, since not every variety is suitable food. This is a travel-based collection method: pick what you recognize, carry it for the trip, and rely on other food sources when vegetation is sparse.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Inventory space or a food bag for gathered plants.
  • No special tool; use the in-game item prompt to identify unfamiliar forage.
  1. Scan forest clearings and the ground beneath undergrowth while following your regular route.
  2. Approach visible berry bushes or mushrooms and check the item prompt before collecting.
  3. Pick plants you can identify and leave unfamiliar items uneaten until you can confirm what they are in-game.
  4. Store gathered forage in your food bag when available so it is ready for travel.
  5. Eat known suitable plants when you need a small food supplement on the route.
  6. Continue gathering from additional patches rather than relying on one clearing to provide everything.
  7. Return to hunting or fishing when you need a larger meal supply.

Farming tips

  • Forage while moving between objectives; a dedicated long search for scattered plants may not pay off.
  • Use the prompt on unfamiliar plants instead of guessing based on appearance.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable as you encounter plants during travel, but patches are scattered and not a guaranteed fixed harvest site.

Common mistakes

  • Eating an unfamiliar plant without checking its prompt; identify it first.
  • Depending on forage alone for an extended expedition; bring preserved food as backup.
  • Assuming one patch will always be stocked; gather opportunistically across several areas.

When to stop or switch

Stop gathering once you have enough familiar forage for the current leg of travel, then continue your objective or switch to a more dependable food source.
