Boneboo Crop Production

Boneboo provides a fast-growing crop for a repeatable raw-produce supply; its mature harvest is also a useful input when you need to fulfill a shipment order that requests it.

PC / Global, final release
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

A ship, home base, or planet farm with valid tilled soil and open air above the plants.

Use Boneboo when you want a dedicated crop that matures quickly and can feed a steady produce stock. Boneboo is listed among the farmable crops, with an average harvest time of about 20 minutes. That makes it useful for checking a field between other activities, though growth time alone does not guarantee a particular yield or shipment value. Secure seed through normal in-game sources, grow a small starter plot, and expand only when you can replant and have somewhere to send the harvest.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Boneboo seeds from wild crop gathering, quests, tenant rent, or another available in-game source.
  • A hoe and a watering method such as a watering can, collected water, rain, or sprinkler.
  • A storage container for produce and a reserve of seeds.
  • Optional: cooking access or the ship's Terramart shipment interface for using surplus.
  1. Gather Boneboo seeds during planet exploration or obtain them from another available seed source; begin with a small quantity.
  2. Choose a farm location with soil that can be tilled, room above the plot, and no standing water that could flood the crops.
  3. Till the soil, plant Boneboo seeds, and water the top of each tilled block.
  4. Leave the crop to grow while doing other tasks; check its growth visually when you return, since crop growth continues while you are elsewhere in the universe.
  5. Interact with mature Boneboo to harvest it, then collect the produce and any seeds returned.
  6. Store enough seeds to restart the plot. Use the remaining produce in cooking where a recipe calls for it, or check current shipment orders before sending surplus.
  7. Expand the field in small batches as your seed reserve and use for the produce justify the extra planting.

Farming tips

  • Boneboo's listed average harvest time is about 20 minutes; use that as a planning guide, not a guaranteed timer for every plant.
  • Mature harvests do not reliably return seed, so preserve your planting stock rather than counting on the next harvest to replenish it.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the grow, harvest, reserve, and use cycle as long as you have Boneboo seeds. The crop is not a guaranteed self-renewing farm: if seed stock runs out, obtain more through normal seed sources before restarting.

Common mistakes

  • Planting every seed at once; keep a reserve so one poor seed return does not end the field.
  • Assuming mature plants always drop replacement seeds; store seed stock separately from produce.
  • Flooding the plot while watering; water the top of tilled soil, and avoid excess water above the plants.

When to stop or switch

Stop adding plots when your stored Boneboo covers the cooking or shipment goal you currently have. If you have no use for the surplus or lack seed to replant, switch the space to another crop.
