Crop Seeds

Seeds let you build a renewable crop supply from wild plants and other in-game sources.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Wild crop plants and village fields on planets, quest rewards, and tenant rent.

Gather a small seed collection during exploration, then use it to start only the crops you need. Wild crop sources vary with planet type and tier. Seeds can also come from quests and tenant rent; village fields are another source, though residents treat tool removal as theft.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A Matter Manipulator for plants that do not yield a seed through interaction.
  • A destination you can safely explore.
  • Inventory space for seeds and produce.
  • A hoe and tilled soil when you are ready to plant.
  1. Choose a planet whose threat level suits your gear, then explore its surface for wild crops and settlements.
  2. Try interacting with a wild crop to gather it; if that does not release a seed, use the Matter Manipulator.
  3. At a village, harvest its crops by interaction instead of breaking them with a tool, which residents may treat as stealing.
  4. Keep an eye on quest rewards and tenant rent as additional seed sources when those activities are available.
  5. Sort your finds and set aside seeds for crops you want to establish; availability varies by planet type and tier.
  6. Plant a small trial plot in tilled soil and confirm it produces the food or materials you need before expanding.
  7. Store surplus produce for cooking or shipment orders, and retain seeds for any crop you plan to replant.

Farming tips

  • Gather several crop types during ordinary exploration so a missing seed does not hold up your farm plan.
  • Use interaction on mature village crops; tool removal can provoke residents.

Repeat, collect and use

Wild gathering can be repeated on other planets, but each plant is a finite find. Quest rewards and tenant rent depend on having those sources available; do not treat them as unlimited seed vendors.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting every planet to have the same crops; search different planet types and tiers when a seed is absent.
  • Breaking village crops with a tool; harvest by interaction to avoid theft responses.
  • Expanding before securing enough seed stock; start with a small plot and grow it from retained seeds.

When to stop or switch

Stop gathering once you have enough seeds to establish the crops needed for your food, crafting, or shipment plans.
