Use a powered Water Filtration Machine to supply renewable Salt alongside base drinking water.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Inside a Seabase room built with the Habitat Builder; a Multipurpose Room or Large Room supports the machine.
A Water Filtration Machine desalinated seawater into Large Filtered Water and Salt, making Salt a renewable base resource. Build the machine inside a compatible Seabase room, supply power, and collect Salt from its own storage slots before they fill. The machine continues making water if you collect Salt, and vice versa; however, a full output inventory stops operation. Salt supports curing food and making Bleach with Coral Tube Samples, so connect production to those actual needs rather than storing unlimited stock. The machine has substantial power demand and reduces hull integrity, so check both base power and structural support before relying on it.
Blueprint access for Water Filtration Machine and a compatible Seabase interior.
Habitat Builder and the machine’s required crafting materials.
Reliable base power and enough hull integrity for the added module.
Storage or recipe use for Salt and Large Filtered Water.
Check your base power reserve and hull integrity before choosing an interior wall for the machine.
Build the Water Filtration Machine inside a compatible habitat room using the Habitat Builder.
Confirm the base has power and allow the machine to desalinate seawater.
Open the machine and collect Salt from its Salt storage slots when available.
Collect Large Filtered Water separately if needed; taking one output does not require taking the other.
Use Salt to cure food or combine it with Coral Tube Samples to make Bleach for Disinfected Water.
Check the machine’s output inventory and remove products before all slots fill.
If power becomes strained, pause reliance on the machine and restore the base’s energy supply.
Farming tips
Salt production is linked to powered desalination, so it can supplement seabed collection once the base has the machine.
The machine stops when its output inventory fills; clear the outputs to resume production.
Repeat, collect and use
Keep the powered machine operating and periodically collect Salt and water. Its Salt output is renewable while the machine runs; the rate depends on operation and should not be treated as instant.
Common mistakes
Building without enough power: the machine has a substantial continuing energy demand.
Ignoring a full output inventory: remove products so processing can continue.
Collecting salt by searching the seabed when a powered base already produces it: use the machine output for a steady reserve.
When to stop or switch
Stop adding filtration capacity when your stored Salt and water cover current needs or when base power becomes the limiting factor.
