Before you go A spear or other suitable fishing tool. A nearby fire or Drying Rack for processing. A safe bank with clear access to the water. Visit freshwater during daylight so the water and shallows are easier to inspect. Scan for fish before entering the water; choose a clear bank where you can reach the target. Use a spear against a visible fish and watch where it falls or remains in the water. Collect the fish from the water or shoreline once it is within reach. Return to a fire and cook the catch if you need food soon. Place spare fish on a Drying Rack when preparing a longer trip. Recheck the same water only if fish remain visible; otherwise move to another suitable source. Farming tips Clear, shallow water makes it easier to see a target before spending time fishing. Process the catch promptly at camp so the food is ready for your next outing. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable where fish are present, but visibility and availability vary by water source; no catch is guaranteed.
Common mistakes Thrusting at unseen fish in murky or deep water: move to a clear shallow section. Leaving caught fish unprocessed for a trip: cook or dry them first. Entering water without checking the bank: choose a safe place to retrieve the catch. When to stop or switch Stop when you have enough cooked or dried fish for the next journey, or when no fish are visible at that water source.
