Break Red Moon Altars for cache loot

Each altar grants a reward from the event Gear Cache pool, making the altar route a direct source of event gear rolls.

PC / Global, Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon (Update Y8S3.2)
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Twenty Red Moon Altars in and around decorated areas of Washington, D.C., October 15–November 3, 2026.

Find and destroy Red Moon Altars in decorated D.C. areas during the event. Each of the 20 locations can be completed once per day and rewards a Gear Cache pool roll. This is limited to the event and daily reset cycle.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Red Moon Unleashed active.
  • Access to Washington, D.C. open-world areas.
  • A weapon and build ready for possible Cultist attention after destroying an altar.
  1. Travel through decorated D.C. areas and look for the distinct Red Moon Altar objects.
  2. Approach an altar and destroy it with weapon fire or another suitable attack.
  3. Collect the reward granted from the Gear Cache pool and inspect it for useful seasonal gear.
  4. Prepare for Moon Cultists that may be attracted by the action; clear them before continuing if the area is unsafe.
  5. Move on to other discovered altar locations and repeat the destroy-and-collect process.
  6. After the daily reset, revisit locations you have already cleared and check whether their altars have refreshed.
  7. Spend any remaining event keys at the vendor before the event ends.

Farming tips

  • The altar locations reset at 08:00 UTC; plan revisits around that reset rather than expecting an immediate respawn.
  • The reward is a Gear Cache pool roll, so it can include different gear and does not guarantee a chosen item.

Repeat, collect and use

Each altar can be destroyed once per day during the event; the farm ends when Red Moon Unleashed closes on November 3, 2026.

Common mistakes

  • Searching for an altar immediately after clearing it; its daily reset is at 08:00 UTC.
  • Expecting a particular Named item; the altar uses the broader Gear Cache pool.
  • Ignoring attracted Cultists; clear nearby threats before looting or moving on.

When to stop or switch

Stop after clearing available altars for the day or when you have collected the event gear you want; revisit after reset only while the event is live.
