Where to farm
Chest of Trials encountered on Chaos Wastes Expedition maps.
A Chest of Trials is an optional Chaos Wastes challenge: opening it summons a monstrous guardian, and defeating that enemy unlocks the chest contents. The encounter can provide useful expedition rewards, but the chest is not a free pickup. Your team must be ready to fight together before triggering it. Any equipment or boons gained serve the current run and do not become campaign gear automatically.
Reach a Chest of Trials during an active Expedition.
Have the team together, with enough health and resources for a summoned monster fight.
Agree whether the party wants the optional encounter before opening the chest.
Locate the Chest of Trials as the team follows its pilgrimage route.
Pause before activating it and gather separated teammates.
Check current health, healing supplies, and nearby threats.
Open the chest when the party is ready to handle the guardian.
Focus the summoned monster while staying aware of other enemies and team positioning.
Defeat the guardian to unlock the chest.
Claim the contents and incorporate any useful reward into the current run.
Farming tips
Do not activate a trial while the team is already weakened or split across the map.
Treat the chest reward as a bonus to the expedition, not a guaranteed specific weapon or boon.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat when a Chest of Trials appears and the team chooses to attempt it. Encounters are not a scheduled farm, and the reward is run-specific.
Common mistakes
Opening immediately on sight; first regroup and assess the team’s condition.
Running away from teammates during the guardian fight; maintain support and a shared focus.
Leaving without claiming the unlocked chest; collect its contents before continuing.
When to stop or switch
Skip the chest if the group cannot safely manage the guardian or is protecting a fragile run; take the challenge when the party is ready and wants the extra reward.
