Deconstruct monster parts for rare crafting components

Turns collected monster materials into recipe components that may be needed for Witcher gear crafting.

PC / Global, Complete Edition with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Blacksmiths and armorers who offer deconstruction, including Lafargue’s Grandmaster workshop in Beauclair for eligible crafting needs.

Some Witcher gear recipes call for monster-related components that you may not hold in their finished form. A smith can deconstruct a suitable monster part into a component needed by a recipe. Use this as a targeted conversion step: inspect the gear recipe first, identify the missing component, then deconstruct only the part that produces it. Many other Grandmaster components can be purchased from Lafargue, so compare the cost and your stock before dismantling anything. This is a crafting workflow, not a guaranteed way to obtain any specific monster drop.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Collect monster parts from contracts, exploration, or monster encounters.
  • Know the exact component missing from a Witcher gear or Grandmaster recipe.
  • Have enough crowns for deconstruction and any remaining purchased components.
  1. Open the recipe for the gear piece you intend to craft and note the exact missing component.
  2. Inspect your inventory for monster parts that can be deconstructed into that component.
  3. Ask a smith or armorer to check the deconstruction result before committing materials.
  4. Deconstruct only the part that supplies the needed component.
  5. Recheck the recipe to confirm the component is now available.
  6. Buy common missing materials from a suitable smith when that is more practical than dismantling rare stock.
  7. Craft the planned piece and retain remaining monster parts for other recipes.

Farming tips

  • Use deconstruction to fill a named recipe gap, not as a general cleanup action.
  • Compare the cost of purchasing a component with the value of preserving a rare part for another item.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat this conversion only as recipes require it. Monster parts must be collected again through play, and deconstruction consumes the source item; it is not a renewable standalone farm.

Common mistakes

  • Do not dismantle parts before checking which component they produce; a rare item may serve another recipe.
  • Do not deconstruct every monster drop as soon as you find it; keep a reserve until your crafting plan is clear.
  • Do not assume all materials must be deconstructed; many Grandmaster materials can be purchased from Lafargue.

When to stop or switch

Stop deconstructing when the required recipe component is in stock; switch to buying or collecting the remaining ordinary materials.
