Fertilizer restores soil fertility and can raise farm yield toward its selected target. It is useful when crop growth consumes fertility faster than the farm’s natural recovery and rotation can maintain it.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Fertilizer storage and delivery connected to a compatible farm’s fertilizer input.
Connect fertilizer to a farm variant that accepts it, set a practical fertility target and compare the farm’s condition with its crop output. Fertilizer mixes combine proportionally when multiple types arrive together, so treat the delivered stream as a blend rather than as independent layers.
A farm variant that accepts fertilizer; the Basic Farm does not.
An available fertilizer recipe or supply chain and storage.
A crop schedule and target fertility that can be checked in the farm interface.
Inspect the farm type and confirm that it accepts fertilizer.
Review the crop schedule and current fertility to determine whether fertility is limiting the planned harvest.
Establish a fertilizer source and route it to the compatible farm input.
Set or review the farm’s fertilizer target in its controls.
If delivering more than one fertilizer type, check the composition of the incoming blend because types mix proportionally.
Allow the farm to operate and compare its fertility status and output with the target.
Adjust supply or target if the farm is not maintaining the desired fertility level.
Farming tips
Fertility affects yield, so assess crop output alongside the soil reading.
Avoid oversupplying a mixed fertilizer line; control the types entering the farm if the blend matters.
Repeat, collect and use
Fertilizer delivery is a repeatable input while crops consume fertility. Maintain the supply for as long as the farm needs it; the appropriate amount depends on crop schedule and selected target.
Common mistakes
Routing fertilizer to a Basic Farm: use a farm variant that supports it.
Assuming every crop consumes fertility equally: review the farm’s current crop and status.
Treating simultaneous fertilizer deliveries as separate products: account for their proportional mixing.
When to stop or switch
Reduce fertilizer delivery when the target is maintained and added supply is unnecessary, or pause the farm’s fertilizer route if the crop plan no longer needs fertility support.
