How to craft Biomass
Quantities below are per complete recipe batch. Rates are for one machine at 100% clock. Keep every output moving so byproducts do not block production.

Biomass turns gathered organic material into usable fuel and ingredients for further processing. For a starter supply, collect Leaves or Wood from vegetation, then process them in a Constructor. The Leaves recipe uses 10 Leaves to make 5 Biomass; the Wood recipe uses 4 Wood to make 20 Biomass. Mycelia and Alien Protein have separate recipes with different yields. Choose the recipe that matches the material you already have instead of hunting creatures solely to start basic fuel production. The practical bottleneck is keeping enough gathered input available while your early power system consumes fuel.

Before you craft
A powered Constructor with the chosen Biomass recipe available.
10 Leaves for 5 Biomass, or 4 Wood for 20 Biomass. Match the recipe to your inventory.
Collect Leaves or Wood while exploring accessible vegetation; use a fueled Chainsaw for supported trees when you have one.
Place a Constructor, connect power and choose the Leaves or Wood Biomass recipe to match your gathered material.
Supply 10 Leaves per 5 Biomass, or 4 Wood per 20 Biomass; keep each batch matched to its selected recipe.
Collect the Biomass and reserve enough fuel to keep your early power system running.
Use spare Biomass for Solid Biofuel or other recipes when those processes are available.
If using the protein route, process Hatcher Remains with the Hatcher Protein recipe in a Constructor, then feed 1 Alien Protein into its separate recipe for 100 Biomass.
Expand your gathering area when local vegetation runs out rather than waiting at an exhausted patch.
Crafting tips
Use the Leaves and Wood recipes for a convenient early supply instead of relying on creature hunting.
Mycelia uses its own recipe: 1 Mycelia produces 10 Biomass. Do not mix recipe input ratios.
Repeat, collect and use
Gather another stock of organic material when fuel reserves run low, process it with the matching recipe, and check reserves before expanding power demand.
Common mistakes
Do not feed raw organic materials into the Alien Protein recipe; use the corresponding remains.
Do not send all Biomass to fuel if a downstream recipe also needs it.
When to stop or switch
Pause production when fuel and crafting reserves are full or Alien Protein is needed elsewhere.
