Mycelia is a hand-gathered organic crafting material, not a mineral node resource. Find mushrooms in caves and suitable fungal vegetation; small patches can be collected by hand, while large supported plants require a Chainsaw. It is used to make Fabric and Medicinal Inhalers, and can be converted to Biomass in a Constructor. Biomass Burners and vehicles can also use Mycelia as fuel. Cave hazards are a practical concern, so prepare before exploring and collect only what you can safely carry. Expect to travel and gather rather than setting up a Miner or powered extractor.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Search caves for mushrooms and other suitable fungal vegetation. Do not place a Miner or look for a powered extractor; gathering is by hand or Chainsaw depending on the plant. Take the collected material back to storage or to the crafting or production area where you need it.

Before you go

  • Hand access to small patches; Chainsaw for large supported plants
  • Prepare for hazards before entering caves
  1. Locate a cave or fungal growth area and watch for nearby threats before approaching the plants.
  2. Approach small mushrooms or patches and gather them by hand.
  3. Use a Chainsaw on large supported plants that require it; small patches do not need a Chainsaw.
  4. Return the collected Mycelia to storage or your crafting area and check your remaining inventory space before another gathering trip.
  5. Use it for Fabric, Medicinal Inhalers, or Biomass in a Constructor; burn it directly where compatible.

Farming tips

  • Gather on a need-based trip and keep an eye on inventory capacity, since gathering is manual rather than automated.
  • If a plant does not respond to hand gathering, check whether it is a large supported plant that needs a Chainsaw.
  • Mycelia can serve as fuel in Biomass Burners and vehicles, in addition to its crafting uses.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat gathering when your Fabric, inhaler, or Biomass stock falls below the amount needed for the next production run. Recheck the intended recipe before gathering if you are collecting for a specific crafting goal.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting a resource node or powered Miner to provide Mycelia.
  • Entering a cave unprepared or attempting to hand-harvest a large plant that requires a Chainsaw.
  • Assuming every fungal-looking plant has the same gathering method.

When to stop or switch

Stop collecting when the target crafting or fuel buffer is filled, or sooner if cave hazards make further gathering unsafe.
