CRAFTING & INGREDIENTS

Caterium Ingot acquisition

Place a Miner on an accessible Caterium Ore node and send its output to a Smelter. You can build the Smelter nearby or transport ore to an existing factory.

Caterium Ingots come from smelting Caterium Ore and are used in advanced electronics production. The standard recipe consumes 3 Caterium Ore for 1 ingot in a Smelter. Caterium Ore is the resource to locate and extract; ingots are manufactured at your factory. An optional Tempered, Leached, or Pure Caterium Ingot recipe can change the required machine and inputs, but each alternate recipe must be unlocked first.

How to craft

Before you craft

Unlock the Caterium Ingot recipe and Smelter.
For each standard recipe batch: 3 Caterium Ore produces 1 Caterium Ingot.

Use the resource map to locate a Caterium Ore node and check its purity and access.
Place a Miner on the node and connect it to power.
Run a belt from the Miner to a Smelter, adding transport if the factory is farther away.
Select Caterium Ingot in the Smelter.
Keep Caterium Ore flowing and collect the ingots from the Smelter output.
Route ingots to a downstream recipe such as Quickwire, or store them for later.

Crafting tips

At 100% clock, the standard Smelter recipe consumes 45 Caterium Ore and produces 15 Caterium Ingots per minute.
Alternate recipes require their own unlocks and may use a Foundry or Refinery instead of a Smelter.

Repeat, collect and use

Keep the Miner and Smelter supplied as long as you need ingots; maintain 3 ore for each ingot in the standard recipe.

Common mistakes

Do not look for an ingot deposit; mine Caterium Ore and smelt it.
Do not expect one ingot from fewer than 3 ore with the standard recipe.

When to stop or switch

Stop or reduce extraction when the ingot buffer meets your production target or the ore supply is exhausted.
